Alycia saw Natalie MacMaster play at the Apple Blossom Festival in Kentville as a nine year old, and decided that’s what she wanted to do. She started taking fiddle lessons with Gordon Tucker, was lucky enough to win a dinner with Natalie during the 1998 East Coast Music Awards, and has been having fun fiddling ever since.

Alycia learned a variety of styles from Gordon, spent a few years learning the Cape Breton style from Kendra MacGillivray, Buddy MacMaster and others, and has worked with accomplished accompanist and instructor Kimberley Holmes. Alycia has attended the Gaelic College and Ceilidh Trail School in Cape Breton and also loves to stepdance.

Together with Dad Robert on guitar, Mom Kelly on electric bagpipes, Alycia, now 23, has been playing steadily for the past few years around Nova Scotia at various fund raisers and community events, including Upper Clements Park, Pictou waterfront, The DeCoste Centre in Pictou, Christmas Daddies, Eastlink Arthritis Telethon in Truro, Yamaha 72 hour Jam at the ECMAs, Granville Green in Port Hawkesbury, Bobby Burns Day at Wentworth Ski Hill, Canada Day Celebrations in Truro, Bible Hill and the Pugwash Gathering of the Clans, Sunday in the Park concert series in Truro, Paddy's Pub in Kentville and Wolfville, Louisbourg Playhouse, Tall Ship Silva in Halifax, numerous maple syrup fundraisers, the Sugar Moon Farm in Earltown, Music on Deck - Ferry to PEI, Fox Harbour, and various receptions, benefits, weddings, conferences and banquets in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick.

Alycia is now performing with the exciting precision drumming group Squid.

In June 2001 Alycia released her first recording "In a Fiddlin' Mood". 

In April 2004 Alycia released her second recording "Fiddle Storm".

◊ Other Accomplishments

In September 2001 Alycia's tune, Goodbye Little Fiddle, was selected as part of the soundtrack for the Pictou area's music video, "New Beginnings: The Story of The Ship Hector".

In May 2004 Alycia was recognized by the Nova Scotia Sport Hall of Fame Gold Club as a young achiever for her music.

Alycia has graduated from Saint Mary's University with a Bachelor of Science Degree, Honors in Psychology, as well as a Human Resource Management Certificate, and is currently enrolled in Saint Mary's MBA Program.
